The IAMC’s First Line-Wide Gathering

On November 5th and 6th, the Indigenous Advisory and Monitoring Committee’s (IAMC) Indigenous Caucus held its first Line-Wide Gathering on T’Sou-ke traditional territory. The objectives of the Line Wide Gathering were to provide an update on work completed to date and establish common priorities and approaches. Participants had the opportunity to work together in groups and drive the discussion on IAMC’s 5 ‘Big Picture’ priorities. “I was deeply saddened to learn of a serious bus accident involving students from Quebec attending an English-language program at Selkirk College in Castlegar. Sadly, one young life was lost and others injured. My thoughts are with everyone involved.

I ran from a mass shooting today with my two little girls in my arms. We got separated from my wife. We hid behind a car and then sheltered in the apartment of some good Samaritans for 5 hours watching swat teams from the windows. We are all ok but we’re angry, very very angry.

Zagimē Anishinabēk First Nation has reached a $20.3 million land claim agreement with the federal and Saskatchewan governments.

The settlement addresses a land shortfall, in which the First Nation received less land than they were promised under treaty.
