In June 2016, Naina joined Natural Resources Canada’s Indigenous Partnerships Office – West (IPO-West) as Senior Executive Director. IPO-West was established to undertake ongoing engagement with First Nations in British Columbia and Alberta on issues related to West Coast energy infrastructure development. In addition, IPO-West works to address Indigenous communities’ issues and priorities in areas such as environmental stewardship, marine and pipeline safety and employment and business opportunities. 

From 2011 to 2016, Naina was Director General, Operations at Western Economic Diversification Canada (WD). In that role, she was responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership for WD’s programs and services in BC. Naina first joined WD in May 2006 as Director of Policy, Planning and External Relations. From 2008 to 2010, she served as WD’s Director of Innovation and Competitiveness.

Prior to joining WD-BC, Naina was the Vice-President, Corporate Affairs at Canada Line Rapid Transit Inc., the public sector project management company responsible for developing, negotiating and delivering the $2B, P3 rapid transit line connecting Vancouver, Richmond and the Vancouver International Airport. Prior to working on the Canada Line, Naina worked on public and private sector initiatives related to transportation, economic development, natural resources and health. Naina graduated with Honours in Political Science from UBC and studied communications at Simon Fraser University.
