Alice Cheung is pleased to participate in the IAMC on behalf of Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO). Her federal government experience spans 22 years, which began at Environment Canada and Climate Change prior to joining DFO in 2007. Over the two decades, she has held technical and management level positions in areas such as freshwater/marine environmental studies, fisheries and aquaculture management, ocean conservation, treaty related negotiations, a major project management, and contribution agreement management. She has worked extensively with stakeholders, provincial governments and BC First Nations. Her current role is the Director, TMX Regulatory Review and Engagement responsible for overseeing regulatory reviews required under the fisheries protection provision of the Fisheries Act for the TMX project, two of the accommodation measures (Aquatic Habitat Restoration Fund and the Terrestrial Cumulative Effects Initiatives), and advancing Canada Energy Regulator Recommendations 5&6 related to underwater noise management. Prior to joining the federal government, Alice worked in the area of environmental consultation. She completed a degree from the University of British Columbia with an emphasis on biology and environmental management.
